The article examines the proverbs that actualize the concept of "Family" in the English and Avar language pictures of the world. Based on the analysis of the proverbs of the Avar and English languages, reflecting the system of values, the transmission of which from generation to generation is possible only in the family; a high axiological status of the mother in the system of family values is established.
