The article, based on the materials collected in the villages of Ashar, Shimikhyur, Ikra of the Kurakh district of the Republic of Daghestan, with the use of the method of actualization, historical-genetic, historical-systemic, typological and ethnological methods, describes modern marriage and life cycle rituals of one of the sub-ethnic groups of Lezgins - the Kurakhians. The modern marriage and family rituals are based on the dominant traditional rituals to which some new customs were added in the Soviet and modern times. The main stages of wedding ceremonies, the composition of their participants, the main characters, a set of dishes, the mandatory registration of the religious marriage, and relics of its ancient forms are preserved. In modern times, some weddings are held in the form of the mawlid. Most maternity rites and customs are aimed at protecting the child and his mother from the evil eye and demon antagonists of pregnant women and women in labor. Under the influence of globalization the belief in the Tooth Fairy has become entrenched in the maternity rituals. Funeral rituals are carried out mainly according to the Islamic canons. During the Soviet times, the custom of attaching a photograph of the deceased to his grave monument was established. In modern times, the custom to celebrate birthdays of the deceased has emerged. The existing variability in ideas about how many days the soul of the deceased stays in the house, different dates of funerals, leaving a beard as a sign of mourning indicates poor knowledge of the Islamic norms and regulations by the population. The preservation of the traditional layer of the family and everyday life rituals of the Lezgin-Kurakhs instills a certain confidence in the preservation of their ethnic and cultural identity in the era of globalization.
