REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EASTERN CAUCASUS AND THE LAND ISSUE IN THE STATE DUMA OF THE FIRST CONVOCATION

Increased interest in the history of the country and its regions in the context of the whole state attracts attention of researchers. The experience of studying the activity of the State Duma of the imperial period allows to consider the affairs discussed at the meetings of the Duma and the degree of involvement of the representatives of the national outskirts in the discussion process. It provides an opportunity to assess the contribution of the latter to the political life of the country. The paper highlights the work of the State Duma of the first convocation in the discussion of the land issue, shows the activity of the deputies from the Eastern Caucasus, involvement of the latter in the process of discussion of this matter, drawing attention to the facts of land shortage, the plight of the population. Documents and works of researchers of the pre-revolutionary period which reproduce the events from the point of view of contemporaries and works of the modern researchers are used in the paper. It is shown that as a result of the dissolution of the First State Duma the agrarian issue has never been brought to an end. However, the work in the Duma provided an opportunity for deputies from the Eastern Caucasus to gain experience in the public and political sphere, in defending the interests of their region, taught to show an active position in resolving various questions.
