The resettlement policy of the Russian Empire to the North-Eastern Caucasus in the context of the problem of integration of the region into the all-Russian space is considered in this article. The research is based on the concept of the so-called "new history of the empire", the fundamental principle of which is the study of ways of interaction of the imperial power with the regions. The author's research idea focuses on subjecting the presented problem to consideration from the point of view of one of the strategic vectors of integration policy - acculturative processes in the region as opposed to the policy of "Russification" and "Christianization". The relevance of the research is also determined by the all-Russian and regional levels. This approach is necessary because the North-Eastern Caucasus has been a special national region within the empire. The ethnic and confessional composition of the population of the empire formed initially as a complex one. The research has been conducted out of the "colonial" approach on the specific example including reconstruction of the process of mutual acculturation of the Russian and Caucasian populations because of the necessity to study theory and practice in the management of the Russian Empire and the demand in the scientific community for the research using new approaches and answers with the formulation of broad generalizations and conceptual conclusions in the future. The conclusion is about the prospects of using the acculturation model for understanding the essence of the centuries-old process of integration of the considered periphery into the general socio-cultural space of the Russian Empire.
