DEMOCRATIC WRITER BATYRBEK TUGANOV (1866-1921): PAGES OF BIOGRAPHY

The article is devoted to the first translator of the "Manifesto of the Communist Party" by K. Marx and F. Engels into the Ossetian language, a public figure, a progressive, talented and original democratic writer of the late XIX - early XX centuries B.A. Tuganov, whose life and work reflected the highlanders' desire for knowledge, explained the harm of prejudices and adats, described the actual life of the highlanders in the past. The romantic writer in the storybook "Batanoko Tembot"; the realist writer in the stories "Shepherd Bade", "According to Adat", "Horse thief", "Khanifa", B. Tuganov left a small heritage, but the ideas of the synthesis of arts are clearly seen in it, which is the subject of the research: it was characteristic of the era of the late XIX - early XX centuries. The artist of the word, he reveals the unique world of a simple Ossetian in his works, they are organically woven into the canvas of Russian-language Ossetian literature. Batyrbek Tuganov lived a difficult life, but did not lose touch with his small native land and participated to the best of his strength and capabilities in the fate of his people. Materials of the funds of the Scientific Archive of the North-Ossetian Institute for Humanitarian and Social Studies after V.I. Abaev are used in the work: memoirs of his daughter V.V. Tuganova, Professor L.P. Semenov, artist M. Tuganov, researcher Z.N. Sumenova and others, who briefly covered the work and stages of the life path of Batyrbek Tuganov. For the first time, little-known archival materials are introduced into scientific circulation.
