PRIVATE LIFE IN THE DAGHESTAN VILLAGE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX - EARLY XX CENTURIES

DALGAT Elmira Murtuzalievna

The article examines certain aspects of the private life of the Daghestanis in the second half of the XIX - early ХХ centuries. This is a sphere in which the state and society do not interfere. It is the most conservative and closed subject to the society. Our goal is to consider such aspects of private life as love, family life, friendship, health and to show the changes that took place in these areas of life of the Daghestanis. The descriptive method, widely used in historical works, is applied here. The sources for writing the article have been the memories of contemporaries of the period under study, both local authors and Russian scientists, doctors, travelers who visited Daghestan. In addition, we used the traditional folklore of the peoples of Daghestan, proverbs and sayings, which provide rich material on the private life of the Daghestan people: love relationships, married life, raising children, protecting one’s dignity, etc.Examining the private life of the Daghestanis in the second half of the XIX - early ХХ centuries shows that this sphere of everyday life was very conservative. But certain changes took place in it, related to the penetration of capitalist relations into Daghestan from Russia. With the disintegration of large families into small ones women became more independent, and with the advent of hospitals and qualified doctors the villagers more often began to apply to them for help. In general, the sphere of private life continued to remain closed and conservative
