The article, based on literary and Internet resources and using general scientific methods of historical research, examines the economic activities of the Russians of Daghestan in the Soviet post-war and modern times, determined by the natural-climatic and economic-cultural type. The area and economic sectors of the established distribution of labor resources in Daghestan are indicated. This is mainly the Northern region of Daghestan, including the Kizlyar region (Kizlyar city, Kizlyarsky and Tarumovsky districts), as well as other cities of the republic, where Russians worked in light and heavy industry enterprises, in the agricultural sector, culture, education and medicine. Personal subsidiary farming of the Russians of Daghestan included gardening and horticulture, animal husbandry, fishing, trades and crafts.Significant damage to the economic activities of Daghestani Russians was caused by the collapse of the USSR, accompanied by a change in the paradigm of the state and social structure, economic structure, liberal economic reforms, and the massive closure of industrial and cooperative agricultural enterprises, which was the main reason for their outflow from the region. In recent years, the unique natural and climatic conditions and geostrategic position of Daghestan have made it possible to create and develop an effective and competitive diversified economy, which will ensure stable employment for Daghestan Russians.
