TRAINING OF DAGHESTAN YOUTH FOR SERVICE IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE USSR IN THE 1980s: HISTORICAL AND GENDER ASPECTS

The article is devoted to the problem of training the youth of Daghestan, the most multinational region of the Russian Federation, for homeland defense in the 1980s, when issues of strengthening the country's protection capability and preparing young people for service in the Armed Forces demanded the development of new forms of organizing military-patriotic work. Using the principle of historicism and traditional methods of historical research, attracting new reliable factual materials, taking into account the historiographical developments of recent years, the state and gender component of initial military training in educational institutions of the republic, the work of physical culture and sports organizations with the youth of Daghestan, the activities of sports and recreation camps are considered; measures for military-patriotic education of boys and girls are characterized; promotion of combat traditions and the role of veterans of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 and the soldiers-internationalist, who went through the war in Afghanistan in 1979-1989, the conditions for the growth of the qualitative indicators of the conscription contingent, including therapeutic and recreational work with young people and measures to improve the educational training of conscripts, are analyzed. The main results of studying the historical experience of Daghestan on the issue under consideration with a gender perspective are summarized; aspects in which the gender component is most clearly visible are identified; and prospects for further scientific research on the problem are outlined.
