The article examines the results of the work on the excavation area XLV located in the coastal part of Derbent, where remains of a utility room have been uncovered. Household ceramics presented in a layer associated with functioning of the room, especially Russian factory faience products, acting as a clear chronological marker, date this complex to the end of the XIX - beginning of the ХХ centuries. In turn, they reliably date numerous samples of local handicraft pottery products - glazed and unglazed jugs, pots, bowls, which are of undoubted interest for the study of pottery handicraft production in Daghestan in the XIX - early ХХ centuries. Factory earthenware (plates, bowls) is largely quantitatively inferior to the handicraft glazed pottery, which, judging by the materials of the excavations, occupied a significant place in the daily life of the citizens in the context of penetration and distribution of factory products. The study allows us to conclude that this handicraft pottery was mostly made by potters from the village of Sulevkent, located in the Kaytag-Tabasaran district near Derbent, which was an important center of ceramics in the Northeast Caucasus.
