The article presents an analysis of the temporal and spatial characteristics of verbal lexemes of the Avar and Karata languages, as well as their influence on the semantics and syntax of verbs in these languages. The theoretical part of the article, devoted to the chronotope, contains a brief analysis of the emergence of this term and its adaptation in linguistics. Various approaches to the interpretation of this term in different scientific areas of linguistics are considered. The practical part of the article contains an empirical study based on examples from two closely related Daghestan languages: the Avar and Karata. In general, the languages under study have the same inflectional and word-formation focuses of the chronotope field with minor differences. The presence of even minor differences indicates the ideo-ethnic specificity of the perception and verbalization of space and time by representatives of different ethnic groups.
