The given article dwells on the semantico-functional and morphological-syntactical peculiarities of the Tajik modal particle г?ё and its English equivalents. Employing a comparative analysis framework, the study examines the particle's dynamic nature, morphological and semantic features, and its interaction with other linguistic elements. The research draws upon data from the English translation of “Temur Malik - Tajik People`s Hero. Muqanna's Rebellion” by Professor Abdusalom Mamadnazarov (2022). The analysis reveals that г?ё primarily introduces unreality, supposition, comparison, and sometimes doubt. Its most frequent English equivalent is as if, although other translations like implying that, appeared as if, showed that, and supposedly are necessary to capture its context-specific meanings. The study highlights the challenges of achieving complete semantic and pragmatic equivalence in translation, emphasizing the importance of contextual and pragmatic factors in selecting appropriate equivalents. Thus, the given article determines the multifaceted nature of г?ё , its semantic richness, and its syntactic versatility. As well as, the analysis sheds light on the challenges of translating this particle into English emphasizing the importance of considering semantic, pragmatic, and stylistic factors. The findings underscore the need for translators to the nuances to choose its English equivalents that accurately and effectively convey its meaning in different contexts.
