This article examines the scholarly contribution of Professor A.R. Shikhsaidov to the study of socio-economic relations in Daghestan from the Vto the XV centuries. It underscores his pioneering role in utilizing medieval sources to analyze the political structures of Daghestan during the V- X centuries, notably the entities of Bab al-abwab, Lakz, Tabasaran, Khaidak, Gumik, Zirikhgeran, Serir, Filan, and Karakh. The analysis highlights Shikhsaidov's methodological approach, which integrated written records with archaeological and epigraphic evidence to elucidate patterns of social organization and economic development. Furthermore, the article addresses the broader spectrum of themes explored within his research.
