ACTIVITIES OF STATE AUTHORITIES TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES OF FRONT-LINE SOLDIERS IN DAGHESTAN DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

LYSENKO Yulia Mikhaylovna

This article examines the support system for children in Daghestan during the Great Patriotic War, focusing on the roles of state and party authorities, enterprises, public organizations, and ordinary citizens. Drawing on archival materials, regional press, and contemporary memoirs, the study analyzes measures undertaken to provide for children-particularly those from frontline soldiers' families-including supplies of food, clothing, and school materials. The analysis also details the forms of social assistance, such as benefit payments and various privileges. The study argues that, despite objective wartime challenges, supporting the children of military personnel was a state priority. Furthermore, it highlights how the widespread reporting of this aid in newspapers served a dual purpose: to assure Red Army soldiers that their families were receiving necessary care and to bolster public morale.
