This article examines the extent of lexical borrowing from Russian into the Kumyk language within the domain of inventory typological terminology. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the proportion of borrowings is relatively low compared to other term-formation strategies, such as derivation and syntactic means. The borrowed material demonstrates that phonetic and morphological adaptations occurring in Russian are systematically reflected in Kumyk. Furthermore, a significant majority of these lexical borrowings from Russian are internationalisms.
