This article examines the information on agrarian relations among the peoples of the North Caucasus, collected by the tsarist official P. A. Gavrilov and published in the second issue of the “Collection of Information about the Caucasian Highlanders”. The author analyzes land ownership among different peoples of the Terek Region and describes customs related to land tenure rights. The article demonstrates the significance of land ownership for the highlanders and its dependence on livestock breeding. P.A. Gavrilov outlines the estate structure of various peoples in the North-Eastern Caucasus and provides a characterization of these estates. The aim of the article is to analyze Gavrilov's work as a historical source on the socio-economic development of the peoples of the North-Eastern Caucasus in the first half of the XIX century. The study employs the comparative-historical method to identify common features and specifics in the estate and land relations among different peoples of the region during this period. It is concluded that, despite certain shortcomings, P.A. Gavrilov's work remains a valuable source on the estate and land relations of the North-Eastern Caucasus in the first half of the XIX century.
