Periodical publications make a significant contribution to the study of a country's history and the development of socio-political thought. By shaping public opinion and informing readers about contemporary events, they also serve as a source of information for subsequent generations. Studying the materials of periodicals allows us to examine issues that drew readers' attention to the North-Eastern Caucasus - one of the regions of the Russian Empire, important in political, economic, and strategic terms. The article examines materials published in the monthly military journal "Military Collection" (published from 1858 to 1917) during the Caucasian War period. These include articles about military events, the personality of Shamil, his family, the worldview and activities of the Imam. It is shown that, in accordance with the journal's editorial policy, historical and ethnographic materials about the peoples of the North-Eastern Caucasus were published in the "Military Collection", introducing readers to the nature, way of life, customs, history, and culture of the Caucasian peoples. These articles contributed to shaping the readers' perception of the North-Eastern Caucasus while preserving valuable information for future generations.
