The article is devoted to private (mulk) land tenure in the Mountain Daghestan, where rural communities were mainly located. At the same time, several questions are raised related to peculiarities of the beggining of private (mulk) land tenure, its nature and development trends. It is emphasized that on the issue of the occurrence of private (Mulk) land tenure among historians there are opposite, mutually exclusive opinions.
