The article examines issues of the ratio of the universal and the nationally-specific in the lingua-color pictures of the world of the different-system English and Lak languages, languages of different cultures and traditions. The linguo-cultural characteristics of the representation of the basic colors of black and white in the English and Lak language pictures of the world are given. The examples represented in the article allow to conclude that the color picture of the world of each nation has its own characteristics, due to the fact that the color designations of each ethnic group reflect the color associations of ethnic culture that is formed in various historical, geographical and social conditions. The results obtained in the article are new and are of certain scientific interest for linguistic Daghestan studies.
