The article, based on archival sources, fills in the gaps in the history of the Znamensky cathedral of Khasavyurt in Daghestan. The construction of the cathedral and its functioning up to the 1920s are described. The article also tells about Vasily Drobyshev, the abbot of the cathedral at the beginning of the XX century. Besides, complemented has been the idea of the cathedral and everyday life of the Terek region in the late XIX - early XX centuries.
