The article, using the methodology of traditional historical research, based on the analysis of diverse source materials, reveals the main gender features of the process of training highly qualified specialists in a multinational region during the heyday of the higher education system in the country. Based on the results of the study made have been conclusions about the increase in the number of women-professionals, girls among students of higher educational institutions, gender segregation in the specialties of education.
