The article introduces into scientific circulation the preliminary results of excavations in 2023 at the site of Gienos (Republic of Abkhazia, Ochamchira). Gienos is one of the few identified ancient policies on the Black Sea coast. Initially, the settlement was located on three hills, but during the construction of a military port in the 30s of the last century, only one eastern hill remained. From 1935 to the 1980s, archaeologists have repeatedly carried out excavations on the remaining hill of the ancient settlement. Nevertheless, Gienos is still a fairly little-studied monument. In 2019, excavations at the site resumed under the leadership of A.Yu. Skakov (Institute of Archeology, RAS) and A.I. Dzhopua (Abkhaz State Museum). On the territory adjacent to the early Byzantine temple of the second half of the 5th - first half of the 6th centuries they laid two excavations. In the process of work, the authors completely studied the entire plinth with signs, which previous researchers of the monument actually didn’t do. This year, work on the study and classification of signs and marks on plinth continued. This article presents the results of the study of the plinth, found in 2023 in a small area in the southern part of the narthex. Analogies are given to numerous signs on the plinth. Also, all plinths that have a preserved shape were measured, on the basis of which analogies were found for them in other medieval churches of the Caucasus. All the signs on the plinth found in the current year have been collected in a separate detailed table.
