This article examines the contemporary social life of the Lezgins in the Suleiman-Stalski district of Daghestan, based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted in July 2025 across four villages. Employing a combination of historical methods (historical-genetic, historical-typological, retrospective) and standard ethnographic techniques (surveys, interviews, participant and detached observation, and photography), the study analyzes the persistence of traditional socio-normative structures. These include the topographic and patronymic division of villages into quarters and tukhum s, the presence of gathering spots - godekan s - at mosques, and customs such as mutual aid, hospitality, and ritual friendship - kunachestvo . The social infrastructure of the villages is also described. The findings indicate that despite increasing influences from urbanization and Islam, the Lezgins have preserved core traditional elements. This retention underscores their enduring significance within the community's value system and contributes to the maintenance of Lezgin ethnic and cultural identity in the global era.
