The relevance of the presented research is conditioned by the necessity to study the mechanisms of relationships among people, to understand their role in the traditional society, as well as to preserve and revive some forms of artificial kinship, which are valuable for the social protection of the individual in the modern realities of life. The aim of the study is to describe the traditional forms of artificial kinship among Bashkir people. The goal of the article is to focus on such tasks as studying folklore and ethnographic materials on the problem under consideration, analyzing the peculiarities of artificial kinship and determining its significance in the traditional society. The study has shown that artificial kinship ties, emphasising the value of a person, is aimed at providing support and ensuring safe entry into a new family and society, providing new family members with social protection.
