SOME MORPHOLOGICAL AND LEXICAL FEATURES OF THE KHAKHITA DIALECT OF THE AVAR LANGUAGE

This article describes certain morphological and lexical features of the Khakhita sub-dialect of the Eastern Avar dialect in comparison with the literary Avar language. The following methods were used to address this task: synchronic-descriptive and comparative. The scientific novelty of the work lies in introducing previously unstudied material from one of the sub-dialects of the Eastern Avar dialect into academic discourse. The morphological features of this sub-dialect are largely conditioned by its phonetic characteristics. The lexical differences point to contacts with the Kumyk language, from which it has borrowed a higher proportion of loanwords than some other sub-dialects of the Eastern dialect generally do. The results presented in this article are new. They hold scientific and practical significance for linguistic Daghestan studies. The material of the article will serve as a resource for writing a historical grammar of the Avar language.
