The article tells about the history and existence of the temples in the city of Makhachkala in Daghestan Republic from the middle of the XIX century to the beginning of the XX century. In the paper there was first published the material relating to the Orthodox Church in the local jail. It also tells about under-built church after St. Peter and Paul. Previously never published materials from the Central State Archives of the Daghestan Republic are presented.
